Welcome

Welcome to the homepage of COSBID - an international cooperation of clinical and basic neuroscientists working in various participating centres in Europe and America.

Our aim is to study mechanisms of secondary brain injury, most notably the relevance of repeated severe depolarisations in the acutely injured brain for the final outcome of patients.

The long term perspective is to investigate, if treatment of these depolarisations might be a new strategy for neuroprotection.

In the clinical section, we study four disease groups:

In the experimental section, we study basic mechanisms of depolarisations primarily in experimental models of the mentioned four groups of disease.
